Recording Services
🏡 Space
We're not a high-end hi-fi studio – but we deliver surprisingly good results. Our 50 m² recording space features a wooden ceiling and chipboard-panelled walls. These materials create a natural, very short reverb that doesn’t interfere with recordings.
📍 Philosophy
We prefer the traditional approach: laying down the rhythm section (drums, bass and guide) in one take. Once that’s solid, we layer other instruments. This works. There are exceptions – for example, in Espanjan Ruusu (Budget Package demo on the AI Video page), the drums were recorded last.
🎙 Equipment
We can capture 16 tracks simultaneously, and there’s no limit to track count overall. The audio interface is a Behringer mixer with Midas preamps. Mixing is fully digital (Cubase), and mastering is done in Wavelab. Mics are primarily Shure SM57 and SM58. Vocals can also be recorded with a condenser mic – though SM58 often wins.
🥁 Instruments
The studio provides two drum kits: one from Kumu (single rack tom) and a Tama Stagestar (dual rack toms). All other instruments and amps must be brought by the artist.
👥 Ensembles
The room comfortably fits 4–5 players at once. Larger groups should plan to record in segments.
🎧 Mixing
Traditionally, bands have attended mixing sessions – but this rarely works. Everyone wants to be louder. Instead, I mix solo and send proposals via WeTransfer. Feedback is welcome by email.
This process yields a more balanced mix – the band can celebrate, and I can focus.
💿 Mastering
Once a mix is approved, mastering is done in Wavelab. Mix adjustments range ±3 dB, but mastering tweaks stay within ±0.5–1 dB. Playback checks are done via a 1000W PA system, studio monitors, and two headphone types (noise-cancelling + normal).
If it sounds consistent across all, and RMS is on point – we’re done. Clients must provide ISRC code and metadata (cover art, composer, arranger, lyricist, band, original authorship details, etc.).
Final masters are delivered in three formats:
- WAV 24-bit / 48 kHz (radio / video)
- WAV 16-bit / 44.1 kHz (CD release)
- MP3 320 kbps (reference listening)
💸 Pricing
Pricing is project-based, but the standard hourly rate is €50 (VAT 0%). Load-in and soundcheck are free – billing only covers actual recording work.
The better prepared and clearer your vision, the smoother the session – and the lower the cost.
